Marvin Mark Cotton, age 56, of Eldorado, passed away late Tuesday evening, May 27, 2014, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital, in Altus.
Mark was born in Quanah, Texas on February 11, 1958, to Jean Marvin and Lavinia Darlene (Wesley) Cotton. After attending and graduating from Eldorado High School in 1976, Mark attended Central State College where he obtained a degree in education. A teacher and coach for many years, Mark began his career at Marland, Oklahoma and later spent time teaching and coaching at Duke, Arnett, Wilson, Hanna, Billings, Olustee and Lone Wolf. Mark loved working with school athletes and helping them with their skills. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, watching sports, coin collecting, working on the farm and spending time with his family.
Preceded in death by his father, Jean Marvin Cotton; his grandparents, Gene and Flaval Cotton, Harold and Evelyn Wesley and Lucy and Morris Smith; one niece, Jennie Coley and one great niece, Erica Nolen, Mark is survived by his mother, Lavinia Darlene (Wesley) Leese of Eldorado; two children, Jonathan Cotton of Weatherford, Oklahoma and Kayla Cotton-Basaldua and husband Mitchell of Altus; one grandson, Easton Carter Basaldua of Altus; two sisters, Darla Johnston and husband Gene of Ochelata, Oklahoma and Barbara Hyman and husband Arlen of Weatherford, Oklahoma; one brother, Delbert Cotton and wife Kris of Olustee, Oklahoma along with many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mark Cotton will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, May 31, 2014, at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel, in Altus, with Pastor Pete Wylie officiating. Interment will follow at the Eldorado Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.
