Obituary for Mary Acosta
Mary Acosta, age 85, passed away Sunday, October 23, 2011 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. She was born August 25, 1926, in Ennis, Texas to Frank and Cruz (Rodriguez) Barron. She married Marchal Acosta Sr. on June 2, 1951 in Waxahachi, Tx. In 1956, they moved to Altus where they raised their family.

Mary was a member of the Pentecostal Church. She was very devoted and very protective of her children and grandchildren. She loved to cook for them and they agree that her speciality was her Menudo. Her family is still trying to duplicate her recipe.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Marchal in 2003; one son, Roy Acosta; one daughter, Mary Helen Barron; and two sisters, Carmen Gloria and Cruz Ayala.

Mary is survived by her daughters, Julia Revilla and husband Tommy and Irene Sanchez and husband Raymond, all of Altus; one son, Marshall Acosta, Jr. of Altus; five sisters, Frances Rojas, Lucia Campos, Caroline Munoz, Margaret Bailey and husband Claud and Dora Lopez and husband Frank; and by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services have been scheduled for 2:00 pm, Wednesday, October 26, 2011 in the Lowell-Tims Chapel with Rev. Joe Tovar officiating. Interment will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

The family will receive guest from 7:00 until 8:00 pm on Tuesday evening at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
