Mary Betsie Hunter, age 93, of Elmer, passed away Wednesday afternoon, August 24, 2016, at Plantation Village Nursing Home, in Altus.
Mrs. Hunter was born on December 29, 1922, in Dustin, Oklahoma to Joseph Siefus and Nora Lula (Floyd) Bell. Living in Thalia, Texas, for a time, Mary later lived in Vernon where she worked at Olivers and Wagon Wheel Western Wear. On December 29, 1978, she married Erby Gayle Hunter and they established their home on the family farm, near Hess. For the last thirty-eight years, Mary has supported Erby, as a farm wife and as his best friend.
Preceded in death by her parents, seven sisters and three brothers, she is survived by her husband, Erby, of the home; two sons, Sid Mason and wife Cheryl and Don Mason and wife Marla, both of the Wagoner Ranch, in Texas; one daughter-in-law, Shelly Baldwin of Vernon, Texas; five grandchildren, Tommy Tucker and wife Danielle, Kristen Horn and husband Bradley, Kayla Simmons and husband Michael, Cole Mason and Whit Mason and wife Katy; seven great grandchildren, Zayn, Zayley, Sydney, Cooper, Wyatt, Bradley and Anastyn along with many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mary Hunter will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, August 27, 2016, at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Doug Altom officiating. A private, family interment will follow.
The family will greet friends from 6 until 7 p.m., Friday evening, August 26, 2016, at Lowell-Tims.
