Obituary for Mary Champlin Chambers
Mary Champlin died Wednesday, February 28, 2001 at her home in Tulsa. A memorial service will be held in St. Ann's chapel at St. Simenon's Episcopal Home in Tulsa at 2:00pm on Saturday, March 3rd. Inurnment will be at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Altus at 2:30pm Monday, March 5th. Mary was born October 26, 1910 as one of 9 children to Roy and Fracis Champlin of Lawton. She is survived by; 2 sisters, Eleanor Denny of Lawton, OK and Nancy Hall of Phoenix, AZ; 2 daughters, Susan Adams and her husband Ed of Tulsa, Jane Kramer and her husband Jerry of Dallas, TX; a son Larry and his wife Cheryl of Tulsa, 8 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She graduated from Oklahoma University in 1932 and taught school in Lawton where she met and married her husband, Lawrence, in 1933. They moved to Altus in 1943 where they were both moving forces within St. Paul's Episcopal Church and that city. Lawrence prededeased her in 1993, and she moved to Tulsa a year later. Mary was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma and PEO.
Always helpful and caring, she was an active participant in life until her death. She enjoyed cooking and baked bread weekly to share her love with her family and friends. Her love, concern and involvement will be missed by all those whose lives she touched. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations in her memory be made to St. Simeon's, 3701 N.
