Obituary for Mary Edith Phillips
Mary Edith Phillips, age 91, passed away Sunday, September 15th, 1996. Services have been scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, at the Lowell Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Sonny Tims officiating. Interment will be 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, at the Chapel Hills Memorial Garden in Oklahoma City. Arrangements are under the direction of Lowell Tims Funeral Home.
Mrs. Phillips was born June 13th, 1905, in Perry, Oklahoma. She was the daughter of Maurice and Myrtle (Gaskill) Callahan. On June 12, 1924, she and William M. Phillips were united in marriage in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Mrs. Phillips was an Information Operator for Southwestern Bell Telephone for over 30 years. She worked at Tinker Air Force Base during World War II then returned to Southwestern Bell. She moved to Altus in 1975 from Prague, OK and has been a Jackson County resident since that time. Mrs. Phillips was a member of the Methodist Church.
Survivors include: two daughters, Bernice Whiteside of Altus, Oklahoma and Joyce Precure of Prague, OK; four grandaughters, Karen Forshee of Yukon, OK, Cynthia Baggett of Prague, OK, Brenda Sparks of Cincinatti, Ohio and Teresa Hutchinson of Altus, Oklahoma; 12 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by: her parents; Her husband, William 5-23-1961; an infant sister and a granddaughter.
