Mary Lee (Call) Dillahunty, 96, of Mangum, passed away Sunday, September 6, 2009, at the Mangum Community Hospital.
Mary was born July 5, 1913, in Rogers, Arkansas to Ernest J. and Mayme (Wallace) Call. She married Clyde A. Dillahunty on December 31, 1932 in the Methodist Chapel in Mangum. Mary and Clyde lived most of their lives in Greer County and farmed their farm east of Mangum since 1941. Mary tirelessly supported their cattle and farm business, including feeding the wheat harvest crews for many summer seasons of custom combining from Mangum to northern Montana. In addition to looking forward to relatives visiting her at the farm, in recent years Mary"s hobby was reading novels and biographies. Mary was a long-time member of the First United Methodist Church in Mangum.
Mary is survived by two sons, Wayne and wife Judy of Mangum, and Gene and wife Mary Ann of Half Moon Bay, California; a daughter-in-law Claudia Speakman and husband Jack of Groveport, Ohio; grandchildren, Shannon Garcia of Hutchinson, Kansas, and Crystal Cheek and husband Daniel of Alameda, California; great grandchildren Chad and wife Jennifer, Anthony, Nicholas and Emmett; great-great grandchildren Kaylin, Alayna and Kolton; many beloved nieces, nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and great grand nieces and nephews; special sister-of-the-heart Sarah Morrison at Grace Living Center in Mangum; and a host of other family and friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Clyde in 2002, one son Kenneth Wray in 1948, one sister, Denzil Shannon in 2000 and one brother Leon Call in 2007.
Funeral services for Mary Dillahunty will be at 1 p.m., Wednesday, September 9, 2009, at the First United Methodist Church, in Mangum, with Rev. Don Tabberer officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.
The family will greet friends at Greer Funeral Home on Tuesday, September 8, 2009, from 6 until 7 p.m.
