Obituary for Mary Lee Sanders

Mary Lee Sanders

Mary Lee Sanders, 85 year old native of Altus, Oklahoma, departed this life Friday, December 23, 2011, at the Community Hospital in San Bernadino, California.
Mary Lee was born January 18, 1926 in Tipton, Oklahoma, to the late T.S. and the late Addie B. (Lewis) McMillan. She was educated in the Snyder and Altus public schools and later went on to obtain her LPN certification from Western Technology Center in Burns Flats, Oklahoma.
Mary Lee worked as an LPN at Jackson County Memorial Hospital, Altus House, and Jackson County Health Department until her retirement in 1978.
In 1980, Mary Lee married Reverend Arthur L. Sanders, who preceded her in death in 1981. Mary Lee was the proud parent of Beverly Bufkin (Leslie) of San Bernardino, California; Lawrence Wedgeworth of Altus, Oklahoma; Richard Lynn Lipscomb (Tanya), of Fort Worth, Texas; and the late Willie John Griggs of Altus, Oklahoma. Her sister, Beulah Moore, and brother, William McMillan preceded her in death.
Mary Lee accepted Christ at an early age and faithfully sang in the choir at Macedonia Baptist Church in Altus. She leaves to cherish her memories: her daughter, two sons, 24 grandchildren, and a host of great-grandchildren, numerous relatives, and many friends who will miss her bright warm smile and her loving, generous personality.
Funeral Services for Mary Sanders will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 30, 2011, at Lowell-Tims Chapel in Altus with her son, Pastor Ricky Lipscomb officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
