Mary Briscoe, age 70 of Quanah, Texas passed away early Monday morning April 25, 2016 at her home in Quanah.
Mary was born in Hobart, Oklahoma on February 12, 1946 to her parents Donald Wells and Mary Lorene (Hayslip) Hester. She grew up in Roosevelt, Oklahoma and also lived in the Hess and Elmer communities while raising her family. On July 2, 1970 she married Kenny Briscoe and they enjoyed over 45 years of marriage until his death in 2011. Mary enjoyed her work as a Certified Medicine Assistant at nursing homes and helping her husband Kenny with the restaurants. She also enjoyed hunting and fishing, crocheting, playing her organ, but above all else Mary treasured time spent with her kids and grandkids.
Preceded in death by her parents; her first husband Truman Cole; her husband Kenny; her son Kenneth James Briscoe; two brothers, Donnie and Jimmie Hester; Mary is survived by three sons, Terry Cole of Quanah; Dr. Gary Cole and wife Terri of Stillwater; and Loyd Briscoe of Quanah; three daughters, Sherri Schweigert and husband Eric of Abilene; Kim Briscoe of Quanah; and Sharon Ray and husband Jimmy of Quanah; three sisters, Lou Ann Cook and husband Buck; Carolyn Martin, and Danny Lou Cole all of Roosevelt; five grandchildren, Jennifer and Megan Schweigert; Lakin Cole; Chance Story; and Jay Don Ray; six great grandchildren, Koda, Kobyn, Cutler, and Chayton Ray; Kathleen and Suzanne Story; her very special nephew J.J. Hester of Altus; her family friend Martha Nelson of Quanah; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, and her many friends.
The family will greet friends at visitation from 7:00 pm until 9:00 pm, Sunday, May 1, 2016 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home in Altus, Oklahoma.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Monday, May 2, 2016 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Mark Haught officiating. Interment will follow at Hess Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory, Altus, Oklahoma.
