Obituary for Mary Maldonado
Mary Maldonado, age 83 of Martha, Oklahoma, passed away Thursday, December 17, 2020 in Abilene, Texas.
Mary was born on August 29, 1937 in Kenedy, Texas to her parents Manuel and Torivia (Reyes) Gonzalez. Mary married the love of her life Cruz Maldonado, Sr. and they enjoyed over 61 years of marriage together before Cruz, Sr's. death in February of 2020. Mary was a dedicated mother first and foremost. She treasured her children and embraced every moment with them. She especially loved her role as Grandma. She had a vivacious personality and always made people around her laugh. She made friends everywhere she went. Mary sewed aprons and quilted blankets for her grandchildren. Her hands were rarely still. She also shared her love of food such as fried chicken, carne con gravy, and she made the best tortillas. Mary always told you the truth even if it wasn't what you wanted to hear. Mary loved her family and she will be sorely missed.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband Cruz Maldonado, Sr.; her parents Manuel and Torivia Gonzalez; her son, Danny Maldonado; her brothers, Manuel Gonzalez and Samuel Gonzalez; and her granddaughter, Alexandria Maldonado.
Mary leaves to cherish her memory, three sons, Joe Maldonado and wife Teresa; Lee Maldonado and wife Annabelle of Abilene, Texas; and Cruz Maldonado, Jr. and wife Mollie of Altus; two daughters, Norma Gonzalez of Altus; and JoAnn Lucio and husband Salvador of Altus; fourteen grandchildren, Becky Maldonado, April Maldonado, Stephanie Koehler, Cody Maldonado, Chuckie Gonzalez, Eric Guerra, David Lee Maldonado and wife Belle, Felicia Maldonado, Christina Maldonado, Angela Maldonado, Ashlee Maldonado, Matthew Maldonado, Zackary Gonzales, and Janessa Reyes; twenty-five great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; as well as many other family members and friends.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel in Altus.
Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory, Altus.
