Obituary for Mary Ruth Gambill
Mary Ruth Gambill, 82, lifelong resident of Mangum, Oklahoma passed away on February 17, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born on May 25,1939, in Mangum, Oklahoma to Joseph Lee and Helen Leona (Blancet) Tinsley.Â
She was raised and educated in Mangum where she graduated in 1957. Later in life, she attended and graduated with an Associate degree from Western Oklahoma State College.Â
On her 18th birthday, Mary was united in marriage to Carl Ray Gambill in Carter, Oklahoma. Soon this newly married couple moved to Oklahoma City while Carl attended barber school. The Gambill family returned to Mangum, where they would be blessed with two children; Kent and Denise.Â
Mary worked as a telephone operator for Southwestern Bell for several years, then as an administrative assistant at the Altus Regional Service Center for the Oklahoma Department of Education.Â
Mary was a devoted Christian and follower of Jesus Christ. She was an active member of Abundant Life Church where she taught vacation Bible school, Sunday school, and worked in the nursery. Mary's favorite past times were going to the farm, keeping up with Carl Ray, attending her kids and grandkids sporting events, holding babies, having coffee with her sisters, and spending every moment she could with her grandchildren. Mary had a servant's heart and always put her family before herself.Â
She was received at Heaven’s gates by her father, Joseph Lee Tinsley, mother, Helen Leona (Blancet) Tinsley; son in law, Randy E. Alsup; sister, Lavada Agee; grandchild, Cooper Ryan McCalip.Â
Left to honor her memory is her loving husband of 64 years, Carl Ray Gambill; Son, Kent Gambill and wife Deborah of Mangum, Oklahoma; Daughter, Denise Alsup of Decatur, Texas; Sisters, Jean Burkhalter and husband Kenneth of Mangum Oklahoma, Jo Sheward of Mangum, Oklahoma, Jimmie Crossland and husband Jim of Purcell, Oklahoma; Grandchildren, Brandon Gambill and wife Tanya of Altus, Oklahoma, Brian Gambill and wife Amanda of Mangum, Oklahoma, Tiffany McCalip and husband Weston of Decatur, Texas. Hayley Warren and husband David of Seymour, Texas, Todd Alsup and wife Abby of Richardson, Texas, Heath Stockton of Elk City, Oklahoma, Jarred Stockton and wife Kristin of Moore, Oklahoma; Great- Grandchildren, Kreed Gambill, Karter Gambill, Hagen Gambill, Haddie Gambill, Chandler, McCalip, Brooks McCalip, Tatum McCalip, Caden Warren, Luke Warren, Reese Warren, Madison Stockton, Austin Stockton, Collin Stockton; As well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, church family, and many beloved friends.
