Obituary for Mattie Faye Jones
Mattie Mae Jones 88, passed away Saturday, March 18, 1995 at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital. She was born September 20, 1906, at Anson, Texas to the late Ora Sena and George H. Thomas.
Mattie married Howard F. Johnston December 12, 1925 and he preceded her in death in 1975. she later married Ike Jones and he also preceded her in death.
Mrs Jones worked as a nurse for over 30 years in Knox City Texas. She later moved to Dumas, Texas where she served as Administrator of a nursing home. She moved to Altus when she retired and worked at the Hensley Green House and at the Emmanuel Baptist Church Nursery. She was Retired Volunteer Citizen, and worked with the Red Cross Blood Drive as a nurse.
Mattie's hobby was her yard and flowers and her home was a show place of beauty. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of O'Brien, Texas.
Mattie was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands, John Issac Jones and Howard F. Johnston; two sisters and one brother.
She id survived by one sister, Jesse Mae Westfall of Altus; nieces Joy Phillips of Altus, Pat Barton of O'Brien, Texas and Sue Barton, also of O'Brien, Texas; as well as a host of great nieces.
