Obituary for Mattie Pearl Edgemon
Mattie Pearl Edgemon, age 80, former Altus resident, passed away Thursday, June 13th, 1996 at the Comanche County Memorial Hospital in Lawton, Oklahoma. Graveside Services have been scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday in the Victory Cemetery with Rev. Dave Bucher officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Lowell Tims Funeral Home.
Mattie Pearl was born May 11th, 1916 in Altus, OK. She was the daughter of Willie B. and Bertha (Mixon) Austin. After growing up in Altus, she moved to Lawton, Oklahoma following her marriage to Cecil B. Edgemon on July 7, 1940. Mrs. Edgemon attended the Church of the Nazarene and was a devoted homemaker for her family.
Survivors include: two daughters, Jean Anne Contway and her husband Bill of Arlington, TX and Sharon Kay Edgemon also of Arlington, Texas; a brother, Jesse Austin of Artesia, NM; a sister, Gladys White of Odessa, TX; two grandchildren, Cathy Blinn of Arlington, Texas and Patricia Carter also of Arlington, Texas; four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by: her husband, Cecil Buford Edgemon, November 1993; a brother, Paul Austin.
