Obituary for Mayvon Maxey
Mayvon Mathis Maxey

Mayvon Mathis Maxey passed away Thursday, April 6, 1995, at the Jackson County Memorial Hospital. She was born October 13, 1908, at Gilmer, Texas, the daughter of the late Joseph E. and Lou Ella Mathis. She married E.L. Maxey May 23, 1928, in Dallas, Texas and he preceded her in death.
Mrs. Maxey had been a resident of Altus since 1988, moving here from Wills Point, Texas. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Altus. Mrs. Maxey was a loving, caring, giving person. She loved her church and donated many, many hours to numerous projects. Mayvon loved to Crappie fish...well, any type of fishing was great, but especially Crappie. She was a talented seamstress and completed many quilts and projects. She was also a master of the art of cooking. Anyone who has ever tasted her Coconut Pies will testify to that fact. Mrs. Maxey was a very dear lady, who will be deeply missed and remembered by many.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, E.L. Maxey; and two brothers, Adon and Benny Mathis.
She is survived by two sons, Edwin Don Maxey of St. Louis, Mo. and Bob Maxey of Altus; three grandchildren, Mitchell Maxey, Jill Spencer, and Holly Maxey; and three great-grandchildren, Joshua Maxey, hunter Spencer and Logan Spencer/
