Medina Alyce Wilson, age 54, of Lawton, passed away at Mangum Community Hospital early Thursday morning, January 1, 2009.
Medina was born on June 22, 1954, to James Davis and Lois Miller Davis in Lawton, Oklahoma. Shortly thereafter she moved to San Antonio, Texas where she graduated from high school and St. Phillips College with an associate degree. After moving back to Mangum, Medina worked for New Hope for many years and continued her education at Western Oklahoma State College in Altus. Moving to Lawton in 2000, Medina married Essex Wilson and began working at the Helen Holiday Center for the next eight years. In August she began work at Community Access in Lawton. In her spare time, Medina enjoyed reading, working crossword puzzles and embroidering.
Preceded in death by her parents, one sister and one brother, Medina is survived by her husband, Essex Wilson, of Lawton; three children, Melissa Ganaway and husband Scotty of Mangum, Richard Shandy and wife Melissa of Houston, Texas and Jason Shandy and wife Cristine of Mangum; one sister Barbara Ann Nichols of San Antonio, Texas; one brother, Edward Davis and wife Lillian of San Antonio, Texas; nine grandchildren; special friends, Milton and Genivieve Burrell and Aron Thomas along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services for Medina Wilson will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, January 6, 2009, at the First Baptist Church in Mangum with Pastor R.H. Hamilton officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery under the direction of Greer Funeral Home of Mangum.
