Obituary for Melissa Ann Schweinfurter
Melissa Ann Schweinfurter, 20, died as a result of a motorcycle accident Saturday, May 24, 1997, in Lawton. Melissa was born December 19, 1976 at Travis Airforce Base, California to Roger Schweinfurter and Shirley Schaefer Schweinfurter. Melissa had lived in Altus since 1986 and graduated from Altus High School in 1995. In high school, she was a member of the Spanish Club and served on the year-book committee, and belonged to the Girl Scouts and Gymnastics. She had also worked as a Red Cross volunteer and was employed at Garfield's in Lawton at the time of her death.

Survivors include her parents of the home in Altus and her two grandmothers, Margaret Schweinfurter, San Mateo, California and Norma Keith of San Antonio, Texas and numerous aunts and uncles.

Requiem Mass for Melissa Ann Schweinfurter is scheduled for 11:00am Thursday, May 29, 1997 at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Altus. A Vigil Service will be held Wednesday, 7:30pm May 28, 1997 at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church Father Tim Luschen officiating. Melissa will lie in state at Lowell-Tims.
