Obituary for Melvin Marsh
Melvin Marsh, age 89 of Altus, Oklahoma, passed away October 18th, 2002 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Services, under the direction of Lowell Tims Funeral Home of Altus, are set for 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 22, 2002 at the Lowell Tims Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Sonny Tims will officiate and interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery.
Melvin was born March 31,1913 on the family farm in Kiowa County, Oklahoma, to parents M. S. Marsh and Affie (Wynn) Marsh. He was a lifelong resident of Southwest Oklahoma. Melvin was united in marriage to Lela Newton on May 2, 1933 in Hobart. In 1945 they moved to Altus where Melvin worked in the plumbing business for 32 years. He was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his wife, Lela, of the home; three daughters, Nita Ledbetter of Arlington, TX, Patsy Barr of Altus and Rita Pantalena and husband Ronald of Guilford, CT; seven grandchildren, Brenda Daniel, Carl Gaver, Robin Leonard, Ronald Pantalena Jr., David Ledbetter, Frank Marsh Pantalena and Daniel Pantalena; twenty-three great-grandchildren; one brother, Albert "Buster" Marsh of California and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by a son; his parents; two brothers and six sisters.
