Obituary for Merle Gentry Fancher
services for merle (Gentry) Fancher, age 81, of Altus, Oklahoma will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, March 3, 2003, at the Trinity Baptist Church. Rev. Don Sevedge will officiate. Interment will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
Merle was born February 11, 1922, in Segrave, Texas to Walter and Maude (Grundy) Gentry. She married Fred Wesley Fancher on April 8, 1942 in Mangum, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on June 22, 1977. Merle worked as a Sales Clerk for Surplus City for over 18 years. She was a devoted, faithful member of the Trinity Baptist Church she taught Sunday School for most of her life. Merle loved her pet dogs and birds and she adored children. She enjoyed doing Arts and Crafts and spending time with her family.
Merle was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fred; one son, Johnny Wayne Fancher, and several brothers and sisters.
She is lovingly survived by five sons and their wives, Ronnie and
Delorse Fancher of Altus, Oklahoma, Mike and Linda Fancher of
Edmond, Oklahoma, Steve and Gena Fancher of Hollis, Oklahoma, Phil Fancher of Altus, Oklahoma, and Gary Fancher also of Altus; three daughters and their husbands, Shirley and Ray Pittman, of New Smyrna Beach, Florida, Brenda and Frankie Collier or Altus, Oklahoma, and Regina and Sam Floyd of Las Vegas, Nevada; 13 grandchildren, Robbie Collier, Jeff Collier, Tim Collier, Sterling Fancher, Stephanie Fancher, Jessica Lloyd, Jeromy Lloyd , Scott Harmon, Jason Pittman, Lisa Messick, Tony Fancher, Caleb Fancher, and Cadie Fancher, and several brothers and sisters, other relatives and friends.
