Michael Glenn Greene, age 67, of Altus, passed away early Friday morning, February 14, 2014, at Plantation Village Nursing Home.
Mr. Greene was born in Boston, Massachusetts on August 21, 1946, to George Henry and Margaret (Breese) Greene. After graduating from Arkansas State University, with a Bachelors in Nursing, Michael joined the United States Army where he proudly served his country. Michael later joined the United States Air Force in 1967, and was honorably discharged, as a Senior Captain from Altus Air Force Base in 1989. On June 25, 1988, he married Maria Ranjel and they spent the next twenty-five wonderful years together before his death. In 1992, they moved to Allen, Texas and Michael worked at several hospitals, in the area, as a surgical nurse. In 2010, they moved to Altus where they retired. In his spare time, Michael enjoyed traveling to see the oceans and beaches, eating seafood, dancing and discussing politics and history.
Preceded in death by his mother and two brothers, Patrick Greene and Bill Greene, granddaughter, Cheyenne Grace Earls, he is survived by his wife, Maria, of the home; his father, George Green of New Hampshire; three daughters, Natalie Earls and husband Earnest, of Bethany, Oklahoma, Mary Lou Newberry and husband Douglass of Altus and Tina Casey and husband Charles of Altus; three sons, Ruddy Hinojosa and wife Jeanette of Altus, Ruben Hinojosa and wife Sylvia of Vernon, Texas and Robert Hinojosa and wife Druanne of Altus; two brothers, George Greene, Sr. and wife Georgia of New Hampshire and Robert Greene and wife Linda of New Hampshire; seventeen grandchildren; fourteen great grandchildren; one nephew, George Greene, Jr.; one grandniece, Megan Greene along with many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Michael Glenn Green will be at 3 p.m., Friday, February 21, 2014, at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Erin Martinez officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.
The family will greet friends at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 6 until 7 p.m.
