Michael John Blonien, age 58, of Altus, passed away Thursday afternoon, February 13, 2014, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital, in Altus.
Mike was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on January 21, 1956, to Charles C. and Jean E. (Fandrei) Blonien. The Blonien family moved to Altus, from Milwaukee, in 1962, to establish "Sano"s", the first Pizza location in Altus. Attending Altus Schools for twelve years, Mike graduated from Altus High School in 1974 and continued his education at the University of Tulsa, where he received a baseball scholarship. Returning to Altus, Mike spent the next three years working at Sano"s before moving to Seattle, Washington where he ran a successful residential alarm company. In the early 1990"s, Mike returned to Altus and joined his brother, Greg, in running the Upper Room and Bamboo Tree, now closed, and in the loan business, which he ran until his death. In 1991, he met the love of his life, Patsy Villarreal, and they spent the next twenty-three wonderful years together before his untimely death. Mike was an avid golfer, hunter, fisherman and snow skier but his greatest enjoyment was spending time with his girls, whom he loved dearly.
Preceded in death by his brother, Greg, in 2012 and his mother in 2013, he is survived by his wife, Patsy Villarreal Blonien, of the home; his four children, Brandon Reyes and wife Jessica of Weatherford, Texas, Priscilla Wright and husband Ryan of Wichita, Kansas, Megan Blonien of Altus and Natalie Blonien of Altus; his father, Charles C. Blonien of Frisco, Texas; two grandchildren, Channeng Reyes and Parker Wright; two sisters, Mary Raberding and husband Curtis of Norman, Ann Upchurch and husband Mike of Appleton, Wisconsin; three brothers, Charles Blonien, Jr. and wife Katy of Plano, Texas, Danny Blonien and wife Sheilah of Dallas, Texas and Joey Blonien and wife Martha of Anna, Texas; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Santos Villarreal and Oscar Morales along with many other relatives and friends.
A Funeral Mass will be at 6 p.m., Monday, February 17, 2014, at the Prince of Peace Catholic Church with Father Joseph Sundar-Pudota officiating. Following Mike"s wishes, his earthly body will be cremated following the funeral mass. Funeral services and cremation have been entrusted to Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory.
The family will greet friends on Sunday from 4 until 5 p.m. at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
