Michael "Shawn" Bishop, age 48, of Murphy, Texas, passed away at the Plano Medical Center, in Plano, Texas, Friday morning, December 27, 2013.
Shawn was born in Chickasha, Oklahoma on May 25, 1965, to Gareth and Marcia (Morgan) Bishop, being the first born of their three precious sons. Shawn was the family prankster, always full of mischief: he was bossy, loud and loved to talk, but known for his big heart and generosity. Shawn was an outdoorsman, who dreamed of owning a cabin in Colorado by a trout stream where the family could gather together for a good time of hunting, fishing, and riding four wheelers and snowmobiles. Shawn loved airplanes and loved to fly, but due to his health problems was never able to get that elusive pilots license. Shawn graduated from Texas Tech University with a degree in mechanical engineering. He was a hvac engineer for many years, mostly in Texas until his health prevented his working full time. Shawn had a love for gadgets and tools, and was always trying to figure out how to make things work better. His idea of a great time was doing outdoorsy "boy" things with his boys and brothers. He shared a passion for football with his boys, sometimes a little too enthusiastically. Shawn started farming with his dad when his health prevented him from working full time.
Shawn is survived by his two sons Ben Bishop and Brett Bishop both of Murphy, TX; two brothers, Chris Bishop and wife Amy of Boise, ID and Erick Bishop of Colorado Springs, CO; two nephews, Daniel Bishop and Noah Bishop both of Boise, ID; an Aunt Linda Wilson of Oklahoma City, OK;
Grandfather & Grandmother Chester Bishop and Mary Lou of Duke; three cousins Lisa Kokinda of Las Vegas, NV, Brian Mays of Oklahoma City, OK and Brandi Mays of Oklahoma City, OK.
Funeral services for Shawn Bishop will be at 11 a.m., Monday, December 30, 2013, at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.
