Minnie Faye Montgomery, long time Altus resident passed away Wednesday, September 9, 2009. She was born near Blue Mountain, Arkansas on October 31, 1936 to Clifford Ausmus and Bessie (Matthews) Monk. She married John Robert Montgomery, Jr. on July 20, 1958 in Elk City, Oklahoma. They raised their son and daughter in a loving home. In 1976, Minnie and the children moved to Altus.
Minnie was a dedicated, loyal employee. She worked for K-Mart until it closed in the early 1990"s. With her vast experience in the retail business she was quickly employed by Wal-Mart. During many of these years in Altus, Minnie delivered the Daily Oklahoman to local subscribers. No matter the weather, Minnie made it her personal responsibility to make sure that each of her customers received their newspaper.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Altus. She loved her children and her sister Dorothy and enjoyed being with them. She was an avid OU fan, both football and basketball and collected OU memorabilia. She will be greatly missed by her numerous family and friends.
Minnie is lovingly survived by her son, John Kevin Montgomery and his wife Amy of Lawton, Oklahoma; her daughter, Tammie Kay Donley and her husband Leroy of Brazoria, Texas; six grandchildren, Justin, Kendra, John Michael, Kevin Matthew, Justin Lee and Clinton D.; two great-grandchildren; her sister, Dorothy Pittman of Altus, Oklahoma; as well as many other relatives and friends.
Memorial services have been scheduled for 2:00 pm on Monday, September 13, 2009 at the Lowell-Tims Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
