Obituary for Mitchell Dean Bevers

> Mitchell Dean Bevers, 51, of Altus passed away Friday morning, August 12, 2011, at his home after a long battle with cancer.
> Mitch as known to friends was born on February 28, 1960, in Altus to Joe and Jerri (Cheatwood) Bevers. He spent his entire life in Jackson County and graduated from Altus High School in 1977. Mitch worked for the Altus Cotton Coop Compress for almost 13 years. In 1999, he went to work for Southwest Technology Center and was still working until the day he died. His courage, determination and dedication to his job as well as a cheery attitude truly inspired his coworkers to go deal with life everyday with no complaints because they know this one man, in his fight for the most vicious disease, cancer, has never stopped him from liking life and having a sunny disposition. Mitch"s courage has earned him the respect and admiration of his coworkers who he fondly referred to as his Votech family. Thus, in 2010, he received the "You made a difference" award.
> A man well-known for his giving everyone a hard time and having a great sense of humor despite the odds, made him a role model, not just for his Votech family but to anyone who knows that Mitch was a fighter and always a fighter. How could Mitch despite the pain and the fear move on with such pride and zest for the life he has shared vivaciously with his loved ones, his wife Libby, his son Kyle, his mother Jerri, his sister Carla, his brother Stanley and their families, as well as his so many nephews and nieces who look up to Uncle Mitch as the funny and cool one. Kyle always referred to Mitch as "one cool dad".
> Needless to say, Mitch enjoyed a full life traveling to different places like Florida, Branson, Colorado, New Mexico and even the Philippines. His love for adventure and love for work did not cease even with the vicious cancer he fought for more than 3 years. It was an amazing sight seeing his Votech family awaiting his coming to work, with or without wheelchair, sick or not, he would always be there.
> A great husband, dad, son, brother and uncle. The most dedicated and loyal friend a person could ever have, that is Mitch to everyone"an inspiration of hope, love and courage. A wonderful journey to heaven, our beloved Mitch!!!
