Obituary for Monte Dale Smith
Monte Dale Smith, 65, a life-long resident of Altus, Oklahoma, passed away Monday, March 29, 2021. Dale was born October 21, 1955, in Altus, Oklahoma, to Monroe Smith and Lasara (Romero) Felan. At the age of twelve, Bob Felan entered his life and took on the role of Father. In 1986 at a revival at The Salvation Army Church, Dale insisted on going to the altar where he made the most important decision of his life, to accept Jesus Christ as his personal Lord and savior. Dale had an infectious smile that could light up a room and a contagious laugh. Growing up in Altus made Dale love airplanes and vintage model airplanes. In 1981, when the space shuttle landed at Altus, Air Force Base, it helped bring a love of all things space to Dale’s life. He could not get enough of NASA and Space travel. Dale loved his family, and his family loved him to the moon. He had a special bond with his nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his Father, Monroe Smith; Uncle, Robert Felan; Sister, Melissa Debra Bost; Niece, Amanda Renee Hicks.
Dale is survived by his Father, Braulio “Bob” Felan; Mother, Lasara “Sara” Felan; Brother-In-Law, Tony Bost; Sister, Margaret Felan Alcorta and husband Michael; Nieces, Chelsea Larsen and husband Rob, Emily Reed husband Brian, Nephews, Isaiah Zeman, Chance Bost, Chad Dawson; Great Niece, Sofia Reed, Great Nephews, Casyn Anderson, Jaxson Larsen, Riley Larsen, and E.J. Archie Bost.
Memorial contributions may be made to The Salvation Army in Dale's name, 1100 N. Park Lane, Altus, Oklahoma 73521.
A come and go visitation will be 9:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. Thursday, April 1, 2021, at Lowell – Tims Funeral Home, Altus, Oklahoma.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 2, 2021, at Lowell – Tims Funeral Home Chapel, Altus, Oklahoma, with an interment to follow at Altus City Cemetery.
