Obituary for Morris Henry Roberts
Morris Henry Roberts, 75, longtime resident of Jackson County, passed away September 2nd, 2021, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus, Oklahoma, due to a brief illness.
Morris was born on November 26, 1945, to his parents Doyle Emerson Roberts and Molly Maeleda Littlefield Roberts. Morris was raised in Altus, Oklahoma and received his education from Altus High School, where he graduated from in 1964. Following high school graduation, Morris went on to attend college for two years. He proudly enlisted in the Oklahoma National Guard and retired as a Major with twenty-two years of service. On September 28, 1977, Morris married the love of his life, Marilyn Roberts who he still referred to as his lovely bride for forty-four years.
Not only was Morris dedicated to serving his country, he was also devoted to serving his community. He proudly served his country working civil service at Altus Air Force Base for twenty -seven years. He was the Jackson County Sheriff from March
1, 1996 to February 28, 2007. Morris was a jack of all trades except plumbing. He had several hobbies. which included: riding motorcycles, jug line fishing, four-wheeling at the river, sitting in his chair eating while watching cowboy movies, singing and dancing, but most of all he loved spending time with his friends and family. Morris was a family man who would do anything for the ones he loved. He was a proud Grandpa to all his grandkids and a loving husband and father.
Morris is preceded in death by his parents, Doyle and Molly and a granddaughter Henley Sanchez.
He is survived by his “Lovely Bride” of forty-four, Marilyn Roberts. His two daughters, Misty “Terpin” Roberts Crosson (husband Hutch) of Altus, Oklahoma, Kristi Roberts and fiancé Shawn Stilwell of Mountain Park, Oklahoma. One sister, Beverly Wilson and husband Larry of Altus, Oklahoma. Four grandchildren: Sarina Basaldua, Shawne Burgess of Dibble, Oklahoma, Sabastain Basaldua and partner Brooke Burgess of Blair, Oklahoma; Shyanne Uptergrove and husband Jake of Altus, Oklahoma, Robert Ruiz of Dallas, Texas;. Morris is also survived by his loving and faithful fur babies, Kilo and Sambo.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
