Obituary for Niels-Jorgen Koldste
Niels-Jorgen Koldste, 59, of Altus, Oklahoma, passed away suddenly at his home on Wednesday, September 19, 2012.
Niels was born June 29, 1953, in Aarhus, Denmark, to Aksel and Valborg (Didriksen) Koldste. He came to the United States in 1970 with his uncle and worked as a tour guide. Niels joined the United States Air Force in 1971 and served in Germany for six years. He was then stationed at Travis Air Force Base, California, in 1981, where he served for seven years. In 1988, Niels was transferred to Altus Air Force Base, Oklahoma, and retired as TSGT in 1992.
Niels met Elaine Rader in Montgomery, Alabama, in March of 1973. They were married December 29, 1973, in Florida. Their daughter and son were born in Wiesbaden, Germany: Kim on April 28, 1977, and Mikael December 9, 1980.
Niels was a good man...a great husband, father, and grandfather. His family meant more than anything to him in life. Everyone who knew or worked with him loved him dearly.
Niels is surived by his loving wife, Elaine Koldste, of the home in Altus; one daughter Kim Koldste of Altus; one son, Mikael Koldste and wife Felicia of Stacy, Minnesota; two sisters, Hanne Steinmeier and Kirsten Koldste, both of Denmark; four grandchildren, Kirsten Sorcic of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Julia Koldste, Mikael Koldste, II, and Josephine Koldste, all of Stacy, Minnesota.
Memorial Services will be held by the family at 1:00 p.m. Monday, September 24, 2012, at the First United Methodist Church in Altus with Reverend David Player officiating. The family has entrusted the care of their beloved to Lowell-Tims Funeral Home in Altus.
