Obituary for O. Carl Stout
O. Carl Stout, a long time resident of Jackson County, died Tuesday June 10, 1997 at Jackson County Memorial Hospital.
Services will be held at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday, June 12, 1997 at 2:00pm with Sonny Tims, and Zane Newton and J.V.Lobaugh officiating. Interment will follow at Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
Carl was born May 16, 1924 in Jackson County to John Earl Stout and Altha (Burden) Stout. He was a graduate of Victory High School and the Oklahoma State University of Fire Services Training as a Certified instructor. He married Ruby Renfro in November 11, 1944. He served in the Altus fire Department for 27 years, retiring as the Fire Chief in May of 1986. He worked for Tims funeral Home and Lowell-Tims Funeral Home for several years until his death. He served as a deacon at First Baptist Church of Altus for many years.
Survivors include his wife Ruby of the home, two children, Carlotta Claiborne and her husband Bill of Denton, Texas, Jim Stout and his wife Debbie of Altus, Oklahoma, four sisters, Louise Monroe o Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, Clara Hatcher of Lawton, Oklahoma, Alma Thomason of Duke, Oklahoma, Maola Martin of El Paso, Texas; six grandchildren, Dr. Suzanne LaForte and husband Dr. Russell LaForte of Galveston, Texas, stephen Claiborne and Karen Claiborne of Denton, Texas, Jamie Stout, Courtney Stort,, Craig Stout all of Altus, Oklahoma, two great-grandchildren, Jordan Claiborne of Denton, Texas, Rachel Laforte of Galveston, Texas. He is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.
The family will be greeting friends Wednesday, June 11, 1997 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home from 6:00pm to 8:00 pm.
