Obituary for Olga Shadid-Hawkins
Olga Shadid Hawkins passed away April 11, 2021 at the age of 104.
Olga was born February 10, 1917 in Dill City, Oklahoma to Elias Abraham Shadid and Naomi Taylor Shadid. Olga was a 1935 graduate of Mangum High School and the longest living student in her class.

In 1944, Olga and her brother, Hoyt, opened a lady's ready to wear shop in Altus, Oklahoma. Following her brother, Abe's
return from the U.S. Army, she and Abe became co-owners
of the Powder Puff Shop until 1995.

Olga married Allen Hawkins on June 21, 1963 and they enjoyed over thirty-five years of marriage together before Allen pasted away in 1998. She became an active member of "The Eastern Star", an appendant body of the Masonic Fraternity. Together, she and Allen
enjoyed traveling to many Shrine functions.

Olga's greatest joy was spending time with family and friends. She never failed to surprise or entertain. She always had stories
and those stories usually centered around some part of family history
as well as her love for the Lord. She was assured her stories would
continue to be passed down from generation to generation.

She was not only known as "Aunt Olga" by her
nieces and nephews, but also by their friends. Her open arms
and infectious laugh never failed to welcome.

Olga was preceded in death by her husband Allen,
her sister, Edna and husband Frank Dakil,
her parents, Elias and Naomi Shadid,
her brothers, Jack, Hoyt and his wife, Lila, Coy,
Abe and his wife, Margaret, Phillip and Ned Shadid,
her nephew, Tanell Dakil and his wife, Mary Jo,
and her niece, Joan Tanner and her husband, R.B.

She is survived by her nieces, Eleanor and Linda Dakil of Denton, Texas, her nephew, Steven Elis Shadid of Norman, Oklahoma, her nephew, Jay Douglas Shadid of Panhandle, Texas and his wife, Patrice, a sister-in-law, Jimmie Shadid of Edmond, Ok, a nephew, Randel Shadid of Edmond, OK and his wife, Dana, and a nephew, Barry Shadid and his wife, Dorene of Jones, Ok., a niece, Robin Wray and her husband, Chris of Destin Florida and many great nieces and nephews.

Olga's family wants to extend a special thank you to all of the Jackson County Memorial Hospital Hospice staff, Home Care, and caregivers, Liz Ditmore, Paula Vasquez and Paula Davis. They are angels
on this earth, and they will always have our deepest gratitude.
