Obituary for Opal Collier
Opal Watson Bryce Collier was born on November 26, 1914 to George Watson and Isa Bendie Rector in Ardmore, Oklahoma. She attended schools in Brock, Oklahoma and Kingfisher, Oklahoma. She married Thurman Byrce on December 1, 1935 in El Reno, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death on May 28, 1955. She married Curtis A. Collier in Vernon, Texas on July 3, 1962. He preceded her in death on November 17, 1993. For many years she operated her own business in Altus, Oklahoma. She was an active member of First United Methodist Church and enjoyed quilting and needlework after retirement. She moved to the Vintage Retirement Village in Denton, Texas, in January, 1995 to be near her daughter. Nine brothers and sisters preceded her in death. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Cathy Bryce and Jack Atkins of Ft. Worth, Texas, a daughter, Thurma Fiegel, of Oklahoma City and numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family will receive visitors at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home on Tuesday evening from 6 pm to 8 pm. Services will be under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home at First Methodist Church, Altus, Oklahoma, at 2:00pm on Wednesday, August 23. Burial will follow immediately at Altus Cemetery. The family requests that memorials be made to First Methodist Church, Altus. Mrs. Collier passed away
