HUNTER
Otis Don Hunter, age 81, of Vernon, Texas, passed away Monday afternoon, September 8, 2014, at the Vernon Skilled Nursing Facility, in Vernon.
Mr. Hunter was born in Hess, Oklahoma on February 4, 1933, to Otis Hampton and Gertrude (Fink) Hunter. After graduating from Southside High School in 1950, he began working on the farm. On July 15, 1950, he married the love of his life, Juanell Hutchinson, and they spent the next sixty-four wonderful years together before his death. In 1953, he joined the U.S. Army where he proudly served his country as a remote, hi speed radio operator in Japan. After his discharge in 1955, the family moved to Denver City, Texas where he began a thirty-two year career with Shell Oil Company. After forty-eight years in Denver City, Don and Juanell moved to Vernon, Texas where they made their home. In his spare time, Don raised Quarter Horses and enjoyed going to the races, but his most favorite pastime was spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Robert Hunter and Bobby Hunter and a sister Marjorie Ray, he is survived by his wife, Juanell, of the home; one daughter, Rockelle Munsch and husband John of Ft. Worth, Texas; three grandchildren, Blake Hodges and wife Chelsea of Stephenville, Texas, Nicole Corn and fianc" David Parkes of Flower Mound, Texas and Alan Munsch of Lubbock, Texas; one great granddaughter, Madeline Corn along with many other relatives and friends.
