Obituary for Owana Jean Taylor
Jean Taylor, 79, of Hollis, passed away at her home Sunday, January 4, 2009, with her devoted family at her side.
Jean was born October 4, 1929, in Mayfield, Beckham County, Oklahoma, to Claude S. and Fannie (Wolf) Keeter. She married Dale Taylor October 3, 1945, in Hereford, Texas. She was a Stanley Home Products Dealer since 1955 and enjoyed selling the Stanley products to many in the Hollis community. She and Dale were blessed with three loving children.
Jean enjoyed meeting with her friends, Donnie, Johnny Bob, Miralda, Helen, Madeline, and Juanita on Fridays in Juanita Stanley"s home. She was especially fond of watching her grandchildren play sports and having them and their friends in their home where everyone called her "Grannie." Jean loved to read, crochet Afghans, and make baby blankets for her great-grandbabies.

She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Dale Taylor, of the home; her three children, Linda Hines and husband Doug of Tulsa, Larry Taylor and wife Marti of Hollis, and Robin Smith and husband Harley of Gould; grandchildren, Lana Schmidt of Tulsa, Lyndell Cole and wife Sheila of Hollis, Lisha Strickland of Hollis, Jeff Taylor and wife Christine of Lago Vista, Texas, Major Stephen Taylor and wife Major Laura Taylor of Eagle River, Alaska, Ty Taylor and wife Lori of Rowlett, Texas, Rusty Taylor and wife Ashley of Lawton, Josh Martinez and wife Tera of Durant, Oklahoma, George Martinez and wife Cadie of Hollis, Janay Riley and husband Russell of Hollis, Tim Smith and wife Donna of Altus, and Tad Smith of Eldorado; great-grandchildren, Blake Schmidt, Brad Schmidt, Kevin Smith, Justin Cole, Tanner Cole, Shanna Willis, Carl Strickland, Mary Ann Strickland, Chayseland Taylor, Emily Taylor, Tanner Taylor, Katelyn Taylor, Kyle Taylor, Keri Taylor, Macy Taylor, Austin Taylor, Abygail Martinez, Presley Riley, Shanna Riley, Matt Riley, Mason Riley, Lyndzey Huynh, and Ethyn Huynh; and a great-great granddaughter, Brooklynn Schmidt. She is also survived by her sisters, Joy Assiter and husband Tommy of Floydada, Texas, and Mildred Reagan of Lockney, Texas; a brother, Joe Keeter and wife Lozelle of Lockney, Texas; two sisters-in-law, Martha Taylor and Elwana Taylor, and one brother-in-law, Gus Wesley. She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Fannie Keeter, three brothers, Clinton, Robert, and Olan Keeter, and two sisters, Alta Miller and Lois Johnson.
Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 7, 2009, at the First Baptist Church in Hollis with Reverend Richard Manning officiating. Interment will follow at Fairmount Cemetery in Hollis under the direction of Stewart Funeral Service.-in-law, Martha Taylor and Elwana Taylor, and one brother-in-law, Gus Wesley. She was preceded in death by her parents, Claude and Fannie Keeter, three brothers, Clinton, Robert, and Olan Keeter, and two sisters, Alta Miller and Lois Johnson.
