Obituary for Patricia Ann Scoggin
Patricia "Pat" Ann Scoggin was born on May 31, 1932 in Wapanucka, Oklahoma to the late Eurie B. and Mary Ream Hunt. She went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at the age of 85.
Pat graduated from Wapanucka High School in 1950. She attended Southeastern College and graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Bachelor's Degree in Home Economics. She later attended Cameron University to complete her early education certificate. While attending Oklahoma State University she meet the love of her life, Scotty Wayne Scoggin. They were married on April 3, 1953 and moved to Altus were Pat became a teacher at River's Elementary, later transferring to Grace Day Methodist Church and ultimately becoming the kindergarten teacher at Blair Elementary School. She was Teacher of the Year and retired in 1993 from teaching with Blair Elementary School.
Since moving to Altus, Pat has been a member of the First United Methodist Church. She is also a devoted member of the church's Quilting Circle, U.M.C. Circle One, and also helped with the annual U.M.C. Country Kitchen.
Pat was also a proud member of the Chickasaw Indian Nation and an Eastern Star Member. She was an avid sports fan as well. She enjoyed watching O.U. and O.S.U. sports programs and was a fan of the Oklahoma City Thunder.
In addition to her parents, Pat was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Scotty Wayne Scoggin; brother, Ream Hunt; grandson, Christopher Wilmes, nephew Glen Ferris and niece, Janet Johnson. She is survived by her sister, Jane Ferris; daughters, Linda Anderson and husband, Paul, Patti Scoggin-Anderson and husband, David and Dee Ann Henderson and husband, Scott; grandchildren, Gene Paul Wilmes and girlfriend, Jessica Williams, Melissa Everson and husband, Kyle, Heather Poynter and husband, Matthew, Whitney Thompson and husband, Jason, Shannon Schwartz and husband, Terry, Meridith Whitworth and husband, Adam, Scott "Scotty" Henderson and Brian Anderson and wife, Rachel; great-grandchildren, Jesse Wilmes, Tori Everson, Trinity Schwartz, Kaydee Wilmes, Dal Everson, Tanner Poynter, Jolie Everson, Hallie Everson, Hawk Thompson, Charolette Wilmes, Drake Wilmes, Austin Anderson and Aidan Anderson; niece, Elaine Green and many precious extended family and friends.
Visitation will be held 5:00 –7:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 27, 2018 at Lowell & Tims Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at the First United Methodist Church and burial to follow at Victory Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be her beloved sons-in-laws, grandsons, and great grandson. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of her quilting circle; Lucille Holsey, Nora Lessard, Millie Morris, Carol Payne, Mitzi Pape, Marilyn Pruitt, Nina Sanders, Louise Snodgrass, Marti Taylor, and Cindy Lansdale.
