Obituary for Patricia Lee Ward
Patricia Ward, 93, of Hollis, Oklahoma, passed away on November 10, 2024. She was born on July 21, 1931 in Los Angeles, California to Marie and Earl Jones. Shortly after, her sister, Marjorie, joined the family.
At John Marshall High School she met a tall basketball player with a great smile. His name was Wayne Ward. They fell in love and married in August of 1949. Eventually, they had three children: Janel, Denise and Bruce. Pat worked hard caring for her children and keeping the house. In her spare time she played violin, made clothing for her children and missionaries from church, quilted, sang in the church choir, played in the church orchestra, and was involved in many church activities.
Later, after the kids were grown, dogs occupied her days. She started with golden retrievers and later switched to Irish setters. She showed her dogs and other people's dogs in dog shows far and wide. She shared her love of dogs with her grandkids.
Pat and Wayne retired to Hollis Oklahoma in 1997. They were both active members of First Baptist Church in Hollis. She lost her beloved husband on April 16, 2004. Pat continued to make trips to California to visit friends and family after his passing.
Pat is predeceased by her parents, Marie and Earl Jones; her husband, Wayne Ward; as well as her sister, Marjorie Kelsey. She is survived by her children, Janel (Steve), Denise (Frank), and Bruce (Keke); grandchildren, Adam, Aaron, Lynnette, Colleen, Mark, Lindsay and Justin; as well as 11 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 16, 2024 at Hollis First Baptist Church, Hollis, Oklahoma with Pastor Tim Tutten officiating. Graveside services will follow in the Dodson Cemetery in Dodson, Texas under the care of the Harmon County Funeral Home.
