Pauline was born in Carter, Oklahoma on October 20, 1914 to Columbus "Hoss" and Henrietta (Cranford) Holman. Graduating from Granite High School in 1932, Pauline was the oldest living alumni of the class of 32 for many years. Shortly after high school on October 14, 1933 she married Marion Alvin Austin in Lone Wolf, Oklahoma and they were married for well over 65 years before Alvin"s death in 1999. Pauline and Alvin resided in Lone Wolf for the first years of their marriage and moved to Granite in the early 40"s. During WWII Alvin was drafted by the United States Navy and the young family moved to California until Alvin"s discharge and the family moved back to Granite. The family continued to be on the move living in Texas and then back to California again and then to Mangum and later they settled in Granite where Pauline and Alvin resided for the rest of their lives. Pauline took care of her family and had the great task of raising five sons. She was a very active member of the First Assembly of God Church in Granite, where at the age of 99, she led the morning worship service where she always loved singing. Pauline was a proud member of the Lions Club since 1984 and was active in the Granite Chapter. For many years, she wrote articles in the Granite News Paper under the heading "Pauline"s Ponderings". After Alvin"s death in 1999 she became very involved at the Granite Senior Citizens where she loved playing board games, crosswords, word searches, and she always enjoyed being the score keeper and she was also a very dedicated member of the Senior Citizens Rhythm Band. Pauline was known for her Love of God, her beautiful penmanship, and her great sense of humor. She will be missed very much.
