Obituary for Philip Shadid
Philip Shadid, age 95, passed away October 7, 2005, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital in Altus, Oklahoma. He was born July 10, 1910 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Elias Abraham Shadid and Nehama (Taylor) Shadid. Philip was a 1928 graduate of Mangum High School.

He enlisted in the United States Army on January 19, 1942, and served until he was discharged January 31, 1945.

After leaving the military, Philip and his brother, Ned, started a successful farming operation South of Martha, Oklahoma, which is still in existence today. Additionally, Philip started a surplus business which he continued until his health began to fail.

Philip was a member of the American Legion and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Altus. He was involved in many philanthropic organizations that focus on providing aid to the needy all over the world.

He is preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Jack Shadid, Hoyt Shadid, Coy Shadid, and Abe Shadid, and one sister, Dena Shadid Dakil.

Philip is survived by his brother, Ned Shadid and his sister, Olga Shadid Hawkins
of Altus, Oklahoma; two sisters-in-law, Jimmie Shadid of Edmond, Oklahoma and Lila Shadid of Altus, Oklahoma, five nephews, Randel Shadid of Edmond, Oklahoma and his wife, Dana Barry Shadid of Edmond, Oklahoma and his wife, Doreen Steven Shadid of Norman, Oklahoma and Jay Douglas Shadid of Panhandle, Texas and his wife Partice and Dr. Tanell Dakil of Altus, Oklahoma and his wife Mary Jo; four nieces, Robin Shadid Wray of Altus, Oklahoma and her husband Chris, Joan Dakil Tanner of Denton, Texas and husband R.B., Eleanor Dakil and Linda Dakil of Denton, Texas several great nieces and nephews, and his loving care giver, Lucia Farley. Philip will lovingly be remembered by a host of family and friends.

Services will be held Tuesday, October 11, 2005 at 2:00 pm at the First Baptist Church with Dr. Jeff Moore officiating. Interment will follow at the Altus Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

The family will greet friends Monday, October 10, 2005 from 6:30 until 8:00 pm.
Memorial in honor of Philip Shadid may be made to the First Baptist Church or Charity of their choice.
