BROWN

Preston Brown was the third of four children born to J.S. and Maurine Brown on December 18th, 1939 in Monterey, Tennessee. After graduating from Monterey high school in 1957, he joined the United States Air Force and was soon deployed to Libya for an 18 month tour of duty. After returning to the United States he trained to become an aircraft mechanic and flight engineer. He was Honorably Discharged from the Air Force and throughout the rest of his life worked in manufacturing, aircraft assembly, pipeline construction, the oil and gas industry and heavy equipment sales.

In the late 1970's he found his niche and love for the oilfield industry and honed his natural talent for sales in this field. During the oil boom years he lived in both Ringwood and Enid, Oklahoma working for Ladd Petroleum and Hanson Oil Field Construction Company before relocating to Mustang.

There he married his wife Shelia in 1985.

In the 90"s he began his career in heavy equipment sales with Midwestestern Equipment Company and continued in sales with a move to Kirby-Smith Machinery in 2000. He took his responsibilities very seriously, traveling throughout western Oklahoma until the day he became ill.

His love for OU Sooner football was second to none. As a season ticket holder for many years he rarely missed a home game or the OU Texas rivalry.

He was a wonderful dad and granddad who took great pride in all of his children's and grandchildren's achievements and was always present for the most important events of their lives. Music programs, dance recitals and little league games, graduations and wedding ceremonies...he never missed an opportunity to cheer them on or celebrate their success.

Preston may have been gruff on the outside but he had a kind heart and was a very generous man. He loved God, his wife, children, grandchildren, and his friends. He was a member and very active in his church, Quail Springs Baptist. At the time of his declining health he was the head of ushers at the 11:00 AM service. He took his responsibilities very seriously as he did any job or task he was given. Preston was dependable.

He is survived by many beloved family members, wife Shelia of Edmond; son Jim Brown and wife Crystal and children Jasmine and Cale of Fayetteville, NC; daughter, Jill Brown Ray and husband David of Edmond and their children Savannah,Mckennah and Rob; son Scott Bernard and wife Angi of Tuttle and their son Brady; son Chad Bernard and wife Denise of Edmond and their children Regan and Rylee. He is also survived by his two sisters, Sue Stewart of Knoxville, TN and Pat Bowman of Monterey, TN, Sister-in-law Midge Brown of Oak Ridge, TN and many nieces and nephews.

Preston was preceded in death by his parents and brother Sewell Brown.

Preston fought hard the last few months of his life. He knew his redeemer and Jesus who paid the ransom on the Cross for him. We will see him again!

Graveside services for Preston Brown will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at the Eldorado Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Eldorado.
