Obituary for Randy Young
Beloved father, Pa and uncle, Randy Young, 62, was finally reunited with his wife Susie, in their forever home on Tuesday, February 22, 2022. He leaves behind his son, Cody Young and wife Natalie, his daughter, Amanda Hayes and husband Chris, both of Altus, OK; four precious grandchildren, Asher (8), Sawyer (5), Bowen (1) and Canyon (1), whom he loved more than anything; brother Eddie Young (wife Brenda), sisters Brenda Johnson and Kim Young, brother in law, Lynn Scalf and numerous nieces, nephews and loved ones.
Randy was preceded in death by his wife, Susie; sister, Kathy Scalf; father, Lewis Young; and his mother, Helen Young.
Randy was born on August 1, 1959, in Altus, OK. He attended Southside High School in what he always described as his "glory days". Randy married his high school sweetheart on December 9, 1979, at Southside Baptist Church. Randy provided electrician services for Southwest Oklahoma for over 30 years as the owner and operator of Young Electric. Randy stepped back from his business in 2014 so that he could provide full time care to his wife. Randy promised her that she would never have to leave their home during her final days and he honored that promise every single day for five years.
Randy was a long time member of the First Baptist Church in Altus, where he taught 1st grade Sunday School for many years with his close friends and wife. In more recent years, Randy and Susie attended the Elmer Methodist Church surrounded by friends and family alike.
Randy loved his family. He would light up the minute any one of his four grandchildren entered a room. They were his world and he made sure they knew it. Randy spent countless hours attending any sporting event that his children or nieces and nephews were part of. We could always count on him to offer sound coaching advice from the sidelines. Randy was the go to fixer for all things. He would likely never turn down a request for help, even if you had to listen to him gripe while completing it. Although thinking back I think we'd all agree he was more of a supervisor who liked to "teach" others so they'd be better prepared next time. At the top of his list was always the outdoors. Randy loved to fish, hunt, farm and even garden. We spent many an hour pulling vegetables from his greenhouse, which always ended up being a bigger chore than any of us imagined.
The family would like to offer a special thanks to Cindy Wakeman, Amber LeGrand, Kayla Carlisle, Amy Parker, Kimberly Allen and Samantha Gregory for their unwavering love and care not only to Randy but to the family in his final days. The gift you have given us cannot be repaid.
Finally, Alzheimer's and Dementia research was very close to Randy's heart after caring for his wife, so the family is respectfully asking that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the GIA Brain-Bank, 3601 4th Street/MS:9424, Lubbock, TX 79430.
The family will greet friends at Memorial Visitation from 6:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Friday evening, February 25, 2022 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home in Altus.
Arrangements are under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory, Altus, Oklahoma.
