Raquel (Maldonado) Lopez, age 78, a long-time resident of Olustee, Oklahoma went to join her Saviour on Tuesday, October 7, 2014 at her home surrounded by her loved ones.
Raquel was born in Malakoff, Texas on September 16, 1936 to Darateo and Carlata (Cabasos) Maldonado. On September 8, 1952 she married Augustin Y. Lopez in Sinton, Texas and they enjoyed over 62 years of marriage before Raquel"s death. Later the family moved to Olustee and Raquel raised her eleven children and was an Olustee resident for well over 54 years. She was a member of the Crossroads Church of Altus and truly gave her life to her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. As a woman of faith, filled with the Holy Spirit, she found her true love of serving and working in the house of the Lord. Her qualities of meekness, kindness, gentleness, patience and love drew many people to her. A true reflection of her heavenly Father, she served three quarters of life under many Assembly of God ministers including; Frank Lopez, Jose Moreno, Jose Salazar, and Abraham Salazar. Raquel was a true cornerstone for the house of the Lord. A mother to her children, a mother to the motherless, she loved all people that God sent her way. Raquel was a true witness and testimony for all to see and she will be greatly missed.
Preceded in death by her parents; one infant son, Antonio Lopez; three brothers, Felix, Cecilio, and Epifanio Maldonado; two sisters, Brigida and Gregoria Maldonado; and one grandson, Blake Evan Lopez; Raquel is survived by her husband, Augustin Y. Lopez of Olustee; six sons, Frank Lopez and wife Dora of Blanchard, Oklahoma; Encarnacion "Chon" Lopez and wife Veronica of Olustee; Augustin, Jr. "Tino" Lopez and wife Lora of Blanchard, Oklahoma; Eliseo "Cheo" Lopez of Oklahoma City; Eli "Lee" Lopez of Bay City, Texas; and Samuel "Sammy" Lopez of Stringtown, Oklahoma; five daughters, Carlotta Gonzalez and husband Richard of Olustee; Rosalinda Lopez and husband Edgar Martinez of Altus; Elizabeth McMinn of Altus; Alicia Walker and husband Bryan of Olustee; and Delia Salazar and husband Abraham of Lawton; thirty two grandchildren; thirty three great grandchildren and one great great grandchild; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
There will be a Prayer service for Raquel Lopez from 7:00 pm until 8:00 pm, Thursday, October 9, 2014 at Lowell-Tims Chapel in Altus.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm, Friday, October 10, 2014 at Lowell-Tims Chapel in Altus with Bryan Walker officiating. Interment will follow at Olustee Cemetery in Olustee, Oklahoma under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory, Altus.
