Rayma Lynne Dennis, age 82, of Altus, passed away Friday morning, November 21, 2014, at Jackson County Memorial Hospital, in Altus.
Mrs. Dennis was born in Blair, Oklahoma on January 28, 1932, to Louis and Velma (Roberts) Elliott. After graduating from Blair High School, in 1949, she married the love of her life, C.H. "Cedar" Dennis, on April 9, 1950. They spent the next sixty-four wonderful years together before his death on July 31, 2014. After their marriage, they moved to Texas where Cedar worked for the railroad as a telegraph operator. The family later moved to California where Cedar worked in Heating and Air Conditioning and Rayma was the church secretary. He and Rayma moved back to Oklahoma in 1988, where she lived until her death. A longtime member of the First Baptist Church, in Altus, Rayma was active in the women"s church groups. In her spare time she enjoyed sewing, bowling, traveling and spending time in church activities.
Preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Donnie Elliott, she is survived by three children, Rhonda Harold of Altus Brad Dennis of Blair and Dan Dennis of Jasper, Indiana; five grandchildren, John Harold of California, Jess Harold of California, Raymond Dennis of California, Nathan Dennis of California and Rebecca Dennis of Texas; two great grandchildren, Morley Harold and Elisha Harold; one sister Sylinda Rissot and husband Robert of Clayton, Indiana along with many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Rayma Dennis will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, November 25, 2014, at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Jeff Moore officiating. Interment will follow at the Blair Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.
The family will greet friends on Monday from 6 until 7 p.m. at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
