Obituary for Reverend J. D. Stout
Reverend J. D. Stout, age 85, of Duke, died Sunday at the Altus House Nursing Home.
Funeral services have been set for Wednesday, 10:00 A.M., at the Duke First United Methodist Church, officiated by the Reverend Grady Ross. Burial will be in the Victory Cemetery under direction of Lowell Funeral Home.
Born September 24th, 1895 in what was then known as the Guffin Community west of Altus, he was married at Dallas on March 2, 1945 to the former Leah Westbrook who survives of the home. He began his Methodist Ministry in 1912, having attended Southern Methodist University, Oklahoma Baptist University and Central State University. Reverend Stout, before his retirement, pastored churches in Oklahoma, the state of Washington and Alaska.
Survivors, in addition to his wife, include: one daughter, Mrs. Lillian Lund of Bellview, WA; four sons, Homer Stout of El Reno, Glen Stout of Iowa Park, TX, J. Dean Stout of Grand Coulee, WA and R. B. Stout of Canadian, Texas; 17 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren.
