Obituary for Ricardo "Billy" Rosales

Ricardo "Billy" Rosales, age 74, longtime resident of Hollis, Oklahoma, passed away Sunday, April 23, 2023 at his home surrounded by family.

Billy was born in Campbellton, Texas on March 29, 1949 to his parents Gregoria and Clara Rosales. Billy called Hollis home but he also traveled to Wisconsin, Montana, Indiana, Texas, and Kansas during the 60's and 70's to work in the farming industry. He worked for the city of Gould as a security guard and as a water meter reader. His trade was in welding working for the Fosters. He owned his own Burr Truck and hauled "casquillo" for Adams Gin. Billy married the love of his life, Julia Soto on June 28, 1968 in Hollis and they enjoyed over 52 years of marriage together before Julia's death in 2021. He also worked at Republic Gypsum, Fosters Welding, and Adams Gin and retired as a manager at the Co-op Gin. Billy was a devoted and longtime member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Hollis where he served in many roles. He was a board member, he did all the landscaping for several years, and his love and passion was with the music ministry where he was music director of the "Raza de Cristo" band. He also was a member of the Knights of Columbus, a youth group leader and anything that he could do to help his church family. He enjoyed landscaping, carpentry, and mechanicing on his grandkids vehicles while spreading the word of Jesus with them. He also enjoyed working on his pickup with his sons as often as they could, singing and playing all the instruments with his great grandchildren, going for walks with the kids, fishing, and don't forget playing bingo and going to the casino. His greatest hobby of all was dancing with his wife Julia in Pleasanton and Campbellton, Texas. Billy loved praising God, spending time with Julia and all his family members and he will be missed very much.

Billy is preceded in death by his wife, Julia Rosales, his parents, Gregoria and Clara Rosales; five brothers, Mathias, Ray, Enrique, Paul, and Cruz; three sisters, Irene Vasquez, Jovita Zapata; and Josephina Martinez; one grandchild, Michelle Ruiz; and one great grandchild, Zaylie Victoria.
