Robbie Christeen Hyde, age 94, of Rowlett, Texas, formerly of Altus, passed away early Monday morning, December 1, 2014, at her residence in Rowlett.
Mrs. Hyde was born in Albany, Oklahoma on September 20, 1920, to Charles and Dollie (Neal) Mendenhall. After graduating from Porter High School, Robbie later began a career with Southwestern Bell Telephone, in Altus, that lasted for twenty-nine years. On March 29, 1947, she married the love of her life, Bruce V. Hyde, in Lubbock, Texas and he preceded her in death on January 20, 1995, after forty-seven wonderful years of marriage. In 2002, Robbie moved to Rowlett, Texas to be closer to her son. A long-time member of the First Baptist Church of Altus and Rockwall, Robbie was also a member of the "Pink Ladies", the volunteer organization of Jackson County Memorial Hospital. Full of laughter and life, she enjoyed spending her spare time sewing, taking care of her flowers and being with her family and friends.
Preceded in death by her parents; her husband; three sisters, Essie Kincannon, Ada Thompson and Adelle Tyler and two brothers, Rupert Mendenhall and Bill Mendenhall, she is survived by two sons, Randy Hyde and wife Constance of Rowlett, Texas and Mark Hyde and wife Pam of San Antonio, Texas; two grandchildren, Alexander Hyde of Rowlett and Kelsey Hyde of San Antonio; one brother-in-law, Bob Hyde of New Orleans, Louisiana along with numerous nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.
Funeral services for Robbie Hyde will be at 10 a.m., Friday, December 5, 2014, with Pastor Doug Altom officiating. Interment will follow at Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home of Altus.
The family will greet friends on Thursday evening from 6 until 7 at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
