Obituary for Robert Allen Lethgo
Robert Allen Lethgo, 66, died near his home in Kronberg, Germany on Monday, May 21, 2018. He is survived by his wife, Martina, and daughter Rebecca, both of Kronberg Germany and his brother Will of Tampa, FL.
Robert was the son of Wayne S. Lethgo and Frances Bailey Lethgo, both from Altus, Oklahoma. Robert was born at Ft. Campbell, KY while his father served in the Army there, but Altus was always the family hometown. As an Army child, Robert moved frequently with the family and attended schools in Oklahoma, Germany, North Carolina, Louisiana, and graduated from Butler High School in Augusta, GA. He was an exemplary student and selected for the National Honor Society. He selected the University of Oklahoma for college where he attended with a full ROTC scholarship. After graduation, he began a period of service to the nation.
Robert served in the Army with great pride and honor. His assignments took him through the world with duty in Georgia, California, Korea, and North Carolina.
After completing his military service, Robert chose a bold, new, and life changing path. He attended graduate school at Thunderbird University in Glendale, AZ where he earned a Master's in International Management degree. He chose to move to Germany and there he met, fell in love with, and married Martina. When his daughter Rebecca was born his roots in Germany grew strong and firm. He had a successful career with the Bavarian State Bank until his retirement in December 2017, but he measured his happiness by the days he spent with Martina and Rebecca. He was dedicated and devoted to his family. Along the way, Robert always served as a goodwill ambassador for both the United States and Oklahoma, representing each to the world with great distinction. He was a soldier, scholar, mentor, husband, and father. He left us too soon and now his journey ends with his final return to Altus for burial.
The family will receive visitors at the Lowell-Tims funeral home in Altus, OK on Monday, the 9th of July, from 1PM to 5 PM. Interment will be at the Altus City Cemetery at 10 AM on the 10th of July, 2018 under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory, Altus, Oklahoma.
