Robert Glynn Tucker, longtime resident of Elmer, Oklahoma, passed away on Sunday, November 5, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family at the age of eighty-three.
Bob was born to Wiley (Bill) and Katie (Mayo) Tucker on March 4, 1940, in Hess, Oklahoma He was raised and educated in the Jackson County area. From a young age, Bob worked on the family farm and was the third generation in his family to be a farmer. In 1958, he graduated from Southside High School. Immediately following his high school graduation Bob pursued his passion for farming. In 1986, Bob began working for Southside Farm Supply where he was known for his wealth of knowledge and for his skills in conversation. If you were a stranger within minutes, you had made a lifelong friend in Bob Tucker. He cared deeply for his friends and was always willing to help anyone. Many a night was spent helping another farmer plow a field or harvest a crop.
In 1994 Bob began working for Tilman County District #1. Afterward, he went on to work for Jackson County District #2, he worked with crews to maintain roads and bridges until his retirement in 2016. Even during all this time, he still pursued his passion for farming. Bob was just a farmer plain and simple not of royal birth but rather a worker of the earth.
In a cotton field near Hess, Oklahoma young age Bob met a beautiful young woman named Erma Alonzo, it was love at first sight for Bob. They were united in Marriage in Olustee, Oklahoma on July 20, 1964. Their marriage spanned over fifty-nine and a half years, God blessed the Tucker family with two children Tommy and Melissa as well as their two grandchildren, Brandon and Bradley. Bob loved to spend time with his family. In his free time, he would work in his yard and garden as well as collecting his chicken eggs to give to friends and family. Bob leaves a legacy of love and devotion to his family, his friends, and his beloved community.
He was preceded in death by his parents Wiley (Bill) Tucker and Katie Ann Mayo Tucker; brother J.L. Tucker; sisters Blanche Booth and husband Bob, Billye McLaughlin and husband Mac, Peggy Jackson, Joyce Arnold and husband Cliff, and Exa Fern Hasty and husband Preston.
Left to honor his memory include his wife, Erma Tucker; son Tommy Tucker and wife Danielle of Altus, Oklahoma; daughter, Melissa Munn and husband Mike of Altus, Oklahoma; brother Jimmie Dan Tucker and wife Francis of Pottsboro, Texas; grandchildren Brandon Munn and Bradley Tucker of Altus, Oklahoma; as well as thirteen nephews, fourteen nieces, and many friends who will miss him dearly.
The Tucker family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Thursday, November 9, 2023, at Lowell - Tims Funeral Home, Altus, Oklahoma.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, November 10, 2023, at Lowell - Tims Funeral Home Chapel, Altus, Oklahoma with interment to follow at Hess Cemetery.
Services have been entrusted to Lowell - Tims Funeral Home and Crematory, Altus, Oklahoma.
