Obituary for Robert Haskell Thomas
Robert (Bob) Haskell Thomas, 81, was called to Heaven on Tuesday, July 10, 2018.
Bob was born to Lonnie and Wanda Thomas in Bartlesville, OK on October 18, 1936. Bob is preceded in death by his parents, Lonnie and Wanda Thomas, his wife Sue Janet Thomas, his daughter Pamela Sue Potter, son, Matthew Scott Thomas, and sister Joyce Searl.
Bob was a 1954 graduate of Bartlesville College High School and attended Oklahoma State University where he was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. Bob married Sue Janet Brownlow on August 26, 1956 in Quanah Texas. He and Sue Janet were together 59 loving years. Upon Bob’s graduation from Oklahoma State University in 1958, the couple moved to Houston Texas where Bob began his career with Phillips Petroleum Company. In 1968, Bob along with his brother-in-law, Dave Searl, founded Riverside Oil Company in Evansville, Indiana.
In 1972, the couple moved to Eldorado, Oklahoma to raise their family in a small town. Bob was active in the community and opened several small businesses in the Eldorado area over a span of 10 years. He later entered the seed processing business in Oklahoma and Texas. In 2007, Bob and Sue Janet retired and moved to Punta Gorda, Florida.
Bob was a dedicated and loving father, grandfather, husband, and a “Dad†to many within his extended family. He was a friend to many and will be missed and loved in a very special way. The principles he lived by and the examples he set will carry on for many generations to come.
Bob is survived by sons, Michael Thomas of Orlando, Florida, Jeff Thomas of Grove, Oklahoma, 10 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
The Family of Mr. Thomas will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. - 3:00 P.M. Sunday, July 15, 2018. Services are 10:00 A.M. Monday, July 16, 2018 at Eldorado Cemetery, Eldorado, Oklahoma.
