Robert Hernandez, age 67, of Altus, passed away Thursday morning, May 7, 2015, at his residence, in Altus.
Mr. Hernandez was born in Corpus Christi, Texas on October 31, 1947, to Elesio and Eva Hernandez. Moving to Altus in 1958, Robert attended Lincoln School. During high school, Robert was drafted into the United States Navy, where he proudly served his country. After his discharge he returned to Altus High School where he was a proud member of "That Altus Band" where he played saxophone. After his graduation in 1968, Robert worked at the Copper Mines, west of Olustee. Robert later began working for Southwestern Bell and spent over twenty years before medically retiring in 2006. In his retirement, Robert worked on small engines, went to garage sales and enjoyed "wheeling and dealing", but most of all he enjoyed the time he spent with his family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Emilio Soliz, he is survived by two daughters, Stephanie Huckaby and husband Cody of Mangum and Dixie Dawn Morales and husband Jerry of Eldorado; five grandchildren, Felicity Cole, Corin Fixico, Mahaylee Fixico, Twila Ring and Mylie Morales; one great granddaughter, Haylin Cole; one great grandson Tristyn Lee Cole; two sisters, Esther Trevino and husband John of San Antonio, Texas and Amy Hamilton of Corpus Christi, Texas; a special nephew, David Simons and wife Ramona of Altus along with many other relatives and friends.
In keeping with Robert"s wishes, a viewing and visitation will be held from noon until 9 p.m., at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home, in Altus. A private burial will be conducted by Lowell-Tims Funeral Home at the Eldorado Cemetery where Robert will be laid to rest.
