Robert Lee Guthrie
Robert Lee Guthrie, 98, of Tipton, Oklahoma, passed away Tuesday, November 7, 1995, in the Clinton Regional Hospital following a lengthy illness.
Robert was born May 31,1897 in Brown County Texas. He was the son of Robert Marshall and Mary Elizabeth (Lee) Guthrie. He was a lifelong resident of Tillman County, having lived northeast of Manitou before moving to Tipton.
Robert was a World War 1 Veteran, having served in the United States Army.
In 1947, Robert and Leeta May Holman were united in marriage in Vernon, Texas. He had farmed most of his life, as well as working as a painter and wallpaper hanger. He was a member of the Primative Baptist Church in Wellington, Texas.
Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Leeta; as well as one brother and three sisters.
He is survived by three step-sons and their wives, Arlie and Bobbie Holman of Tipton, Oklahoma Artie and Mary Jane Holman of Ft. Worth, Texas and Billy Jack and Lillie Holman of Duncan, Oklahoma. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and twenty-three great grandchildren.
Graveside Services are scheduled for 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 9, 1995 in the Tipton Cemetery. Burial will follow under the direction of Lowell Tims Funeral Home, Altus, Oklahoma.
