Obituary for Roger Clarence Dinges
Roger Clarence Dinges, born May 18, 1951, passed away at the age of 69 on December 4, 2020, at the Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo, TX. He was with his wife Jean Denton, and his children via Facetime at the time of his peaceful passing. Roger had battled cancer for nearly 11 years, and his body was tired. Due to underlying cancer, he was not able to fight off Covid 19, he succumbed 4 weeks after testing positive for the virus.
Roger lived in Hollis, OK for the last 15 years. He previously lived in Britton, SD and is originally from Ramona, SD. He had built a life in Oklahoma with his wife Jean Denton, her daughter Tiffany Salinas, and their grandson Cutter Salinas.
Roger joined the Marine Corps after high school in 1969. Serving at the Marine Barracks, Camp David, and in Vietnam over his 4-year enlistment. After returning home he attended SDSU in Brookings, SD. Where he met his former wife Katherine (Bremmon) Dinges and the mother of his children, Angela and Andrew. They remained committed to raising their children after divorcing in 1984.
Roger raised cattle, pigs, and birds over the years on his farm. He worked for Triple F Feeds, Horton Industries, and Truss Pros in Britton, SD. He moved to Hollis, OK in 2005 to continue his passion for raising cattle. He shared his knowledge and passion with Jean and Cutter. He also raised chickens and rabbits.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Anna Rose Dinges, his brother Gary Dinges, and sisters, Cheryl Engel and Marlene Culhane.
He is survived by his wife Jean Denton, his daughter Angela Gingrich and husband Garrett and son Andrew Dinges and wife Alisa, a bonus daughter, Tiffany Salinas, and Grandchildren Lia and Ali Gingrich and Cutter Salinas, Sisters Jan Lembcke and husband Merlin, Beverly Hubers and husband Forrest, and Mary Kattke and husband Jim. A host of nieces and nephews. And a special friend Barbara “MeMe” Tillman-Lee.
There will be a private service held in Oklahoma and one in South Dakota.
