Obituary for Roger Curtis Moreau
Roger Curtis Moreau, 89, of Altus, passed away suddenly at his home Friday, October 10, 2008.
Roger was born December 25, 1918, in Olustee, Oklahoma, to Walter and Etta (Robinson) Moreau. He grew up in Jackson County and graduated from Olustee High School in 1936. He worked several jobs in Jackson County before moving to California to work in a machine shop up to the time that World War II became a reality for the United States. HE enlisted in the Army Air Corps in 1942 and served his country until February 16, 1946. HE married Joyce Lee Francis on August 17, 1946, in Altus, Oklahoma where they raised their four children. HE farmed for over 60 years and was still active in farming until his death. Roger was a 32nd Degree Mason and a member of the First Baptist Church in Altus.
Preceded in death by his wife, Joyce, on January 12, 2002, his parents, one daughter, Robin Eddie, one granddaughter, Melissa Moreau, and two sisters, Joy Dickenson and Irma Moreau. Roger is survived by three sons, Mark Moreau and wife Kathy of Oklahoma City, Eric Moreau and wife Sharon of Yukon, Oklahoma, and Brad Moreau and wife Lynda of Altus; one sister, Elsie Fried and husband David of Mena, Arkansas; seven grandchildren, Jarrod, Alexis, Kelsey, Paige, Aaron, Jeremy and Amy; two great-grandchildren, Mason and T.J. and a host of nieces, nephews and many friends.
The family will receive friends on Monday, October 13, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
Funeral Services for Roger Moreau will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 14, 2008, at Lowell-Tims Chapel with Dr. Jeff Moore officiating. Interment will follow at Restlawn Cemetery in Altus under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.
