Obituary for Ronnie L. McLean
Ronald Lee "Ronnie" McLean, 78, longtime Altus resident, passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 in Oklahoma City.
Ronnie was born on August 1, 1945 in Sayre, Oklahoma to Bud and Virginia (Puckett) McLean. He grew up in Sayre and graduated from Sayre High School. He moved to Altus where he would make a home. Ronnie worked as a painter at Altus Air Force Base for more than 24 years. While working on Base, he also found time to set headstones for Ron Lowell. After Ronnie retired from the Base, he kept working for Ron Lowell at Lowell-Tims Funeral Home for many years. Ronnie met Cheryl Thornton and the two married in Hobart, Oklahoma on August 27, 2007. They kept Altus as their home until they moved to Harrah, Oklahoma in 2022. Ronnie was a member of the Highland Heights United Methodist Church and enjoyed watching western movies.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife, Norma McLean.
Survivors include his wife, Cheryl, of the home; a stepdaughter, Holly Williams and husband, Bryce, of Jones, Oklahoma; a stepson, Weston Kelly and wife, Zari, of Henderson, Nevada; two sisters, Judy Kay of Oklahoma City and Jimmye Langford of Houston, Texas; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Kip and Nancy Thornton, of Friendship, Oklahoma; three nephews, Kelly Kay and wife, Jennifer, of Edmond, Oklahoma, Bryan Kay of Houston, Texas, and Darren Kay and wife, Karen, of Carmel, Indiana; special friends, Ada Lowell and the late Ron Lowell; and many other family members and friends.
The family will greet friends on Sunday, April 14, 2024 from 2:00 - 4:00 PM at the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Monday, April 15, 2024 at the Lowell-Tims Chapel. Burial will follow in the Sayre-Doxey Cemetery in Sayre, Oklahoma under the care of the Lowell-Tims Funeral Home and Crematory.
