Obituary for Roy Aster Hodge
Mr. Roy Aster Hodge, long-time resident of Altus, passed away at his home on Tuesday, February 22nd, 2011. He was born January 18th, 1934in Enterprise, Texas, to Buford and Clara Hodge. He was an identical twin to his brother, Ray. He was a graduate of Lincoln High School where he excelled at basketball.

After graduation, he enlisted in the US Army for two years. He returned and married his high school sweetheart, Edith Joyce Hill on August 8, 1960. This union produced their one child, Gwendolyn Elaine Hodge-Hawkins.

His favorite things to do were going fishing, playing dominoes, talking to his many friends on his front porch and taking care of his wife, Edith who resides at English Village Nursing Home.

He worked in Chickasha for more than fifteen years, also Lawton and Altus as a laborer. He was a member of St. John Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Jay Howard Hodge, Buford Hodge, Jr. and one sister, Billie Hodge.

He is survived by his wife Edith of Altus; his daughter, Gwendolyn Elaine Hawkins and husband Randle; two sons, Kevin Brown and Randy Brown and his wife Jessica, all of Dayton, Ohio; his brother, Ray and wife Sue of Los Angeles, CA; a sister, Lafern Griggs of Denver, CO; stepmother, Lorene Hodge; four halfbrothers, Dennis, Freddie, Bennie Lee and Archie Hodge; four halfsisters, Lora Hurst, Elwanda, Jeanie and Renee Hodge; two brothers-in-law, James Molett of Cheyenne, WY and Cecil Molett of Las Vegas, NV; and one sister-in-law, Mary Patterson of Las Vegas, NV. Also surviving are five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, a favorite nephew, Raymond Hodge, and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral Services have been scheduled for 11:00 am, Tuesday, March 1, 2011 at Lowell-Tims Chapel with Rev. Robert Bostic officiating. Interment will follow in the Altus City Cemetery under the direction of Lowell-Tims Funeral Home.

The family will receive guests at Lowell-Tims on Monday evening, February 28, 2011 from 6:00 until 8:00 pm.
